I feel like I see this a lot in the tumblr weight loss community — people who claim to be eating healthily, but are still eating at a dangerously low caloric deficit for what their body needs. They say they’ve lost their weight “the healthy way” because they eat only healthy foods, yet are heavily restricting their intake.
Just because you’re eating healthy foods doesn’t mean you’re eating healthily. Yeah, fruits & veggies & whole grains are all great foods for you, but if you’re still only eating 600 calories a day (just an example number — intakes up to 1300 can still be low, depending on what your body needs), that’s not healthy.
I don’t say this to shame anyone (especially not those of you who suffer from eating disorders). I say this to raise awareness. Eating enough food is just as important as eating healthy foods.
